Ambience Healthcare
The only ambient AI platform in this category with a peer-reviewed deployment paper behind it — 4,800 Cleveland Clinic clinicians, 3.5 million encounters, 70% encounter-level utilisation a year in. It is also enterprise-only, quote-only and English-only for the note, so most readers of this site cannot buy it.

Strengths
Ambience is the one ambient AI platform whose headline numbers survive contact with a journal. Cleveland Clinic ran five vendors head-to-head across 80+ specialties with roughly 250 physicians, picked Ambience, onboarded 4,000 ambulatory clinicians in four months, and published the result in npj Health Systems in August 2026: 4,800+ clinicians, 3.5 million encounters, 70% encounter-level utilisation among established users after a full year, NPS 60, 96.6% CSAT, and 60% of users saying the tool made them more likely to stay in practice. Encounter-level utilisation is the honest metric — published adoption rates for AI scribes sit at 20–42% — and Ambience is running roughly double that a year in. The product reason for it is coding: this is a documentation company that decided the money is in revenue integrity, with real-time E/M and ICD-10 guidance, HCC MEAT validation, inpatient CC/MCC capture, Two-Midnight-Rule-aware documentation, and an audit trail linking every code to the note text behind it. Add chart awareness — reasoning over the full longitudinal record rather than one transcript — and bidirectional native write-back into Epic, Cerner and athenahealth, and you have a system a revenue-cycle team will actually trust. $243M Series C in July 2025 at a $1.25B valuation, backed by Oak HC/FT, a16z, the OpenAI Startup Fund and Kleiner Perkins, so survival risk is low.
Honest dings
You probably cannot buy it. There is no self-serve signup, no trial, no individual or small-practice plan, no published price, and a 3–6 month enterprise implementation. The note is English-only as of July 2026 — live translation happens in the room and the after-visit summary translates, the documentation does not, which matters in any multilingual European or North American setting. The accuracy numbers that sell the product are vendor-reported: 93% E/M and ICD-10 substantiation, 95% AAPC-verified coding compliance, a coding model beating physician benchmarks by 27%. The utilisation and satisfaction numbers are independently verified; the coding-accuracy numbers are not, and nobody has published a hallucination evaluation of the notes themselves. Much of the 2026 story is roadmap: chart-aware A&P in beta, chart-aware diagnostics in alpha, chart-aware coding in early pilots, care orchestration and the Kait patient agent still concepts. And the platform stops at documentation and coding — no prior authorisation, no fax handling, no intake, no clinical decision support, so it is one layer in a stack, not the stack.
