Fair-code is not open source — the Sustainable Use License restricts use to internal business purposes and blocks reselling, which some legal teams will reject. Cloud tiers jump steeply (€50 Pro to €667 Business), the v2.0 migration dropped MySQL and rewrote the Python node (real upgrade pain for self-hosters), the learning curve is measured in hours not minutes, and 'free self-hosted' carries genuine VPS-plus-maintenance costs.
