Gong
The best-governed AI platform in sales — ISO 42001, scoped agents, full audit trails — sold behind a mandatory platform fee that makes it irrational under about 30 reps.
Element scores
Strengths
Gong is the only tool audited so far that is certified to ISO/IEC 42001, the AI management standard — alongside SOC 2 Type 2, ISO 27001:2022 and EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework certification, with an EU data centre for the dialer and Prighter appointed as EU/UK privacy representative. That governance is not decoration: Custom Agents, generally available since June 2026, inherit existing permissions, run with scoped data access, configurable approval gates and a full audit trail, and reason over the Revenue Graph rather than a generic context window. Transcription across 70+ languages is category-best, and 2026 cut time-to-insight by around 70%.
Honest dings
The pricing model is the problem. A mandatory €4,600-46,000 platform fee that does not scale down, a 15-seat minimum, onboarding from ~€7,000, multi-year terms, auto-renewal uplifts and no self-serve trial mean a 10-person team pays roughly €18,000-25,000 in year one before anyone measures value. Forecast is the weak module — revenue leaders in review aggregations rate it around 4/10 against dedicated tools, and many teams end up stacking Clari on top. Transcription degrades on strong accents and non-native English, Smart Trackers throw false positives, search is a recurring complaint, and support and outsourced onboarding draw consistent criticism. Reps often experience it as surveillance, which quietly kills adoption. Customer count has not been officially restated since 2023.
