Suno
The best consumer music generator by a wide margin — buy it for the songs, not for integration: there is no public API, and two of the three major labels are still suing.
Element scores
Strengths
v5.5 output quality leads the category — independent producer reviews call paid-tier tracks indistinguishable from human work in mainstream genres. Custom models and verified voice cloning are shipped consumer fine-tuning nobody else offers at $10/month, Suno Studio is the first real generative DAW, and the Warner settlement (25/11/2025) plus a $400M Series D at $5.4B (03/06/2026) give it licensing legitimacy and runway competitors lack.
Honest dings
UMG and Sony litigation is still live and WMG-driven download caps on paid tiers are coming, so the legal ground under commercial use is a dated snapshot, not settled law. There is no public API — everything programmatic is unofficial wrappers. Credits burn on failed generations, section edits mutate parts you didn't touch, stems aren't production-grade, and the free tier runs the older v4.5 model, so trial users never hear what they'd be paying for.
